Note: The contest is over! Congrats to Sam L. See you at the event on Friday!
This Friday is one of my favorite foodie events of the year, the Wildwood Wine and Food Festival held at the Wildwood Park for the Arts in Little Rock.
I first experienced the event two years ago as a culinary student, as Pulaski Technical College Arkansas Culinary School had a table to present tasty wares created by students. This was one of the first times I was able to directly have a hand in creating good food, then handing it directly to the people who were going to (hopefully) enjoy it. It was extremely gratifying and was probably a defining moment in my passion to make people happy through food.
The event consists of several stations featuring an astounding selection of wines, reportedly at least 150 varieties, as well as food from several of the area’s very best chefs. This year’s choices will include Acadia, Arthur’s Prime Steakhouse, Ashley’s, The Blue Cake Company, Boscos, Bravo! Cucina Italia, Cantina Laredo, Chenal Country Club, Cinco Entrees, Cupcakes on Kavanaugh, Lulav Eatery and Scallions.
A dance band, live auction, grape stompers and roaming musicians will round out the experience, which is limited to “600 of some of Little Rock’s most interesting people,” according to the event web page.
Wanna go? Of course you do. Just leave a comment below citing why you should get to go, and you’re in. (The drawing, that is.) But it’s a random contest, so pleading won’t get you any extra play. Just saying.
(Meanwhile, it won’t help your cause any, but could ya like us over on Facebook? I’ll be doing some other fun stuff there, so just do it!)
The winner will be chosen at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Don’t think you’re gonna win? Hedge your bets and buy tickets here, or call Wildwood at (501) 821-7275.
